We believe that families are the heart of our team.

You are not alone, and none of this is your fault. Parenting a child with neurodevelopmental delays can feel overwhelming, confusing, and isolating—but your child is wonderful, capable, and full of potential, and you are a good parent who is doing the best you can with the information you’ve been given. There is real hope. With the right understanding and support, your child’s brain can grow, change, and thrive in ways that may not have seemed possible. At LifeMind Functional Neurology, we walk beside you with compassion, clarity, and expert coaching—helping you make sense of what’s happening and guiding your family toward meaningful, lasting progress. You don’t have to navigate this alone. We’re here to help you and your child connect, grow, and thrive.

Dr. Karen Borman, Founder of LifeMind Functional Neurology

My path to functional neurology began long before I entered healthcare. As a child, I struggled silently with learning, reading, and processing—challenges that were misunderstood, misidentified, and often dismissed.

Despite working hard and wanting to succeed, I spent years feeling confused, overwhelmed, and “behind,” without understanding why. It wasn’t until I was 32 that I finally received a diagnosis of dyslexia—an answer that reframed my entire childhood and illuminated the importance of early, accurate, and compassionate support.

This personal experience is the foundation of my clinical purpose.

Today, as a functional neurology practitioner and board certified doctor of chiropractic, I specialize in identifying and addressing the underlying neurological imbalances that contribute to learning differences, developmental delays, focus issues, executive function challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, and immune dysregulation.

I integrate advanced neurological assessments—including primitive reflex evaluation, sensory-motor screening, and hemispheric development analysis—to create customized, non-invasive care plans that support each patient’s unique brain-body profile.

But clinical expertise alone is not enough. I understand what it feels like to be the child who is trying so hard and still struggling, and what it feels like to be the parent searching for answers. That understanding shapes my approach.

My Care Is

Compassionate — grounded in empathy, emotional safety, and respect for each individual’s journey.

Comprehensive — addressing the root causes rather than masking symptoms.

Collaborative — partnering with families to build clarity, confidence, and long-term neurological resilience.

I believe deeply in the brain’s capacity for change. Neuroplasticity is not just a scientific principle—it is hope backed by evidence. With the right evaluation and targeted interventions, children and adults can develop stronger, more efficient neural pathways that improve learning, behavior, emotional regulation, and overall function.

At LifeMind Functional Neurology, my mission is to make development feel less overwhelming for families and to ensure no child grows up feeling misunderstood the way I did. Every patient deserves to be seen, supported, and guided with both scientific precision and compassionate care.
